Jason Lineberger (813-363-9474). Farther offshore in 83 feet-plus zone, amberjack and blackfin tuna doing very well, Lineberger said. Capt. Jessie Mayer boated 30-pound blackfin in 70 feet. Mangrove snapper up to 7 pounds consistent on deep ledges beyond 83 feet, worth the run, Lineberger said.

Shawn Crawford of Lakeland (941-747-3856) was trout fishing near Rattlesnake Key Tuesday when an 80-pound tarpon latched onto a greenback, but they released it after a two-hour battle. A lot more tarpon in Skyway area than last week. Crawford said ‘‘in-between'' tides and 30-knot winds this week limited trout and catch-and-release snook, and redfish have been hit or miss, not schooled up.
6 - At Anna Maria, tarpon were in Longboat Pass Tuesday, but not Wednesday, reports Capt. Shawn Crawford. Kingfish and cobia at 7-mile reefs and deeper. Spanish mackerel hit or miss off beaches.

? At Boca Grande, tarpon started showing in decent numbers since weekend, reports Capt. Greg Penix of Lakeland (941-697-1815). His anglers jumped three Wednesday, and one boated super slam (tarpon, redfish, snook). On flats, trout, occasional redfish and catch-and-release snook pretty good.

One of best years for trout continues in river on D.O.A. CAL jerkshads (Red Avocado, Red Gold), with Capt. Travis Waitt boating three 14-pounders last two weeks.
? Along the south shore of Tampa Bay, redfish really turned on and should start schooling in large numbers next few weeks, reports Capt. Rob Salimbene of Lakeland (www.mangroveman.com). He's targeting reds around oyster bars and deep mangrove shorelines last two hours of incoming tides or first two hours of outgoing with fresh cut threadfin herring better than live shrimp and greenbacks by far. Catch-and-release snook from Miguel Bay to Little Manatee River on outside flats and passes. Salimbene suggests finding moving water with deeper mangrove edges and baitfish present and casting greenbacks, with live shrimp or MirrOlure MirrOdines (greenback color) secondary baits. Spanish mackerel so prevalent that Salimbene couldn't keep greenbacks intended for tarpon in water without being shredded. Macks averaging 18-20 inches with 20-30 per trip.

Elsewhere, sea trout can't resist live shrimp rigged under popping corks and fished near schools of baitfish throughout Indian River in 4 feet or less, with light tackle and stealth-like approach upping number of strikes. Slot redfish in Haulover Canal and north end of Indian River on fresh chunks of ladyfish rigged on circle hooks, with most strikes near channel drop-offs and other structure early.
